Romy Schneider is an experienced, results-oriented business and legal affairs executive specializing in publishing, feature film, television, digital media productions, music, interactive media, live esports events and broadcasts, and entertainment industry guild/union labor relations. Ms. Schneider has recently joined IDW Media Holdings in the role of Vice President of Business Affairs, where she will oversee all business affairs for both the publishing and entertainment media divisions of the company. Prior to joining IDW, Ms. Schneider held the position of Senior Director of Legal Affairs for Activision Blizzard Inc., overseeing production legal for The Overwatch League and The Call of Duty League live events and esports broadcasts, as well as, the head of legal affairs for Activision Blizzard Studios, the company’s film and television production division that developed and produced feature films, digital and television series based on Activision Blizzard’s extensive interactive game library including three seasons of popular animated Netflix series “Skylanders Academy.” In her role at Activision Blizzard, Ms. Schneider also advised and represented Activision Publishing on the multi-employer bargaining committee for the AFTRA-SAG Interactive Agreement and advised on all guild labor relations matters internally across the company. Ms. Schneider has previously held in-house legal positions at major studios and media companies such as The Walt Disney Company, Paramount Pictures, New Line Cinema, and Machinima, Inc. (the former multi-channel digital network acquired by WarnerMedia). Ms. Schneider was also a business representative and the head of the finance assurance department at the Screen Actors Guild for over seven years. Over the years, Ms. Schneider has been a frequent panelist at various entertainment, and media industry events, universities, and film festivals. Ms. Schneider is proud to serve as a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association President’s Advisory Committee on Women in the Legal Profession and as a founding board member on the Southwestern Law School’s Entertainment and Intellectual Property Law Alumni Association. Ms. Schneider earned both a J.D. and LL.M. in Entertainment and Media Law from Southwestern University School of Law, a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from UCLA, and is licensed to practice law in both California and New York.
